Narrow two-lane lanes with heavy scooter traffic, frequent potholes after rain and many blind exits from villa gates. Short distances, but journeys are slow: 5 km can take 25 minutes at peak times (08:00-10:00 and 16:00-19:00).
Regular checkpoints on the main arteries, especially at junctions with Jl. Raya. Foreign riders are checked more often than locals. Carry your licence, IDP and the rental document at all times.
Paid parking attendants at most beach clubs and cafes, usually 2,000-5,000 IDR. Kerbside parking is tolerated but blocks lanes; police remove badly parked scooters in peak season.
